If you’ve always wanted to do a spot of fundraising but are unsure about where to start, how about taking on a small task that not only helps charity but helps others too? Get on the phone to your local supermarket or large store to ask about carrying customer’s bags to their car. It’s a relatively easy task to set up, all you need is yourself and a fundraising bucket (though we do recommend you put on some comfy shoes too as you’ll be on your feet all day). And maybe, just maybe you could get a little extra donation by offering double the benefit and packing the bags for the customer first? After all, shopping is stressful enough as it is.
Or how about auctioning your bag carrying services for ladies who like to shop till they drop? Invite all of your friends around to your house for a few drinks and nibbles and let the bidding begin. Then whoever the lucky winner is can take you to as many high street shops, shopping centres and boutiques as they like – with the caveat that you carry all of the bags!
You could always use your bag carrying skills as an opportunity to meet new people too by opening up your auction to the general public. All you need is a public place like a village hall, some chairs and a few snacks and drinks to break the ice a bit. Get your mates offering their bag carrying services too to really see your donations sky-rocket. Don’t forget to do a little bit of advertising beforehand though so people know what you’re up to. Setting up a social media page is a great way to get your event noticed. Most importantly, have fun. Not only does it feel great to help others, but you also get lots of free exercise too, win-win!
